Panzerschreck #11 is now available for immediate delivery. Issue #11 is 64-pages filled with games and gaming articles. Wargame articles include James Meldrum's variant for SimCan's Divine Wind, Armando Signore's ASL Campaign Games ala Retro, and Short Takes on SimCan's Dieppe and Avalon Hill's B-17. Several other gaming articles are included: James Werbaneth's on the advantages of the computer side of wargaming in Matters of Space and Time, Gary Graber on the philosophy of rules writing in Rules vs Instructions, and Art Lupinacci's view from the inside in Game Publishing Insights. Finally, Observation Post includes thumbnail reviews of Lock 'n Load (Shrapnel), Battlelines (Lost Battalion), and Battlecards (DGA).
Besides all this wargaming material are, of course, issue #11's games: Panzers in the Southeast (designed by Pieter de Wilde) is a "hexagon based" corps/army level wargame of Germany vs the USSR during late 1944 to April 1945 in SE Europe, two turns per month, featuring a variable sequence of play. A 8.5"x11" map, color counters, Reference Card, and full rules are included in PSE.
The second issue game is QAR: Quick Armor Rules, a miniatures game system designed by Gary Graber. Included are 60 1.5" counters (representing British, German, and Italian tanks and anti-tank guns), rules, game markers, and Reference Card. The game is an individual tank vs tank system, and covers the fighting in early World War II North Africa with 14 scenarios.
QAR uses a straightforward game system that enables gamers to learn the system fast and start playing quickly. Counters include Stuart, Matilda, Grant, Valentine, Crusader, 2 pdr, 6 pdr, 25 pdr (British), PzIIIh, PzIIIj, PzIVe, 28/20 PAK, 50 PAK, 88 Flak (German), and M13/40, Semovente, and Breda 47 (Italian).
QAR plays quickly, contains numerous optional rules, and includes an Introductory Game for players brand new to table top miniatures.
The third game in #11 is Sink the Tirpitz, a solitaire game designed by James Gordon. Here, the player (British) attempts to sink the famous WW2 German battleship in the Norwegian fjords.
